For our 2018 Mandela Day outreach we chose Sive Nathi  Licensed home

On the 21st of July 2018, Daniel and Friends Fund, in collaboration with Projek BieTjie Liefde, spend our Mandela Day project at Sive Nathi Licensed Home in Blackheath. The day entitled the uplifting of their courtyard via volunteers painting various encouraging messages and colourful pictures. Sive Nathi provide a 24-hour care to children who are profoundly challenged mentally and/or physically, as well as in some cases face an additional challenge of being HIV positive. Sive Nathi also strives to improve the quality of life of those in their care and provide them with a family as their parents have either passed away, cannot cope with their disability or simply abandoned them. The home currently accommodates 40 children and the daily care they provide includes ensuring a balanced, healthy diet, making sure the children are kept clean and comfortable, facilitating regular exercise and taking care of their medical needs. Some of the children are currently going to Astra School which specialises in physically-challenged children. We would like to thank all involved making this day a possible.
