One often hears comments about there seeming to be an increasing number of disabilities. While statistics indicate that this is in fact true, the fact that people with disabilities are now more "visible" also largely comes into play. For those of us in the special needs community, this increased visibility is very much a positive change. As modern technology improves and evolves, a larger number of disabled persons (who previously might have been restricted to where they could travel and socialise) are now able to enjoy so much more of their community...and their lives.
Life-changing equipment which is designed to encourage mobility while providing therapeutic benefits, like posture-adapting wheelchairs, walkers, etc., brings a refreshing upliftment to the differently-abled person's quality of life. The cost of such equipment can, however, be overwhelming and we are, thus, very fortunate to have been able to donate several life-changing pieces of equipment to some of the children within our NPO."
