" I am a sibling of someone who has special needs. I believe this is the best thing that ever happened to me because now I see the world through the eyes of possibility " A Very Special Needs Resource
On Saturday we had our annual sibling day in celebration of all our extra special siblings. There is no love like the love between two siblings. Our siblings to our special needs kiddos are caring, loving and go out of their way for their brother or sister with special needs. Giving up time with their parents, outings, time with friends, and so much more.
On Saturday we celebrated them. We got off to a rocky start when the laser tag did not pan out... but. They took it in their stride, they adapted - much like their life is sometimes. Life with special needs is very unpredictable. But they keep on going, and making the best of each day. We ended up doing Ice skating, and lots of fun and laughter was had. Thank you to every brother and sister for what you do every day for everyone around you - we appreciate you tremendously and wouldn't be able to do "life" without you.
“The siblings of special needs children are quite special. Absolutely accepting and totally loving, from birth, someone who is different mentally, and has a different way of seeing the world, is a wonderful trait. It's a trait I wish there was another way of getting, but there isn't. And it does involve a degree of not having it fantastically easy." Sally Phillips.
