The amazing La Capra Goat run is a much loved charity event that takes place at Fairview Wine and Cheese Estate in Paarl every year in October. People from all walks of life get into gear to give back and raise money for local charities. This year they celebrated their 10th year of hosting this much loved event. We were beyond excited to have our own class - the 5km Buggy Walk - dedicated to Daniel and Friends Fund for the third year in a row. “ Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses. “ Ann Landers We could think of no more fitting quote that describes what Daniel and Friends Fund is about...So this year we chose our theme: On fire for Disability. The trail started out easy, and got a little more challenging as we went along, but by helping and supporting each other, it made it easier and we all made it with flying colors. This walk symbolized the journey our families go through every day.. some days easy and better than others.... some days more difficult and challenging. But we all have each other to support one other on this journey... making it easier having a support system you can count on. We wish to thank everyone who participated in this fun filled morning as well as special thanks to Donald Mouton from Fairview for the privilege to be one of the La Capra Goat run beneficiaries. Donald - your heart is amazing, you always smile and you always make us feel welcome. Thank you for gifting our children with a certificate and a special hand made goat. This is such an amazing gesture, and it touched our hearts. Each handmade goat has a special place in our houses, which will remind us daily about courage, bravery and caring for one another , and that even though we are all different with different abilities, we also can be a part of something wonderful. "As one person I cannot change the world, But I can change the world of one person." Paul Shane Spear Donald and the Fairview team - thank you for making a difference and changing our world. We truly appreciate you. A big shout out to Hesmari Fourie - Push Forward/ Reasons we Run for the part you played in connecting us with this wonderful initiative.
