The Daniel and Friends Fund ambassadors:
Lee-Anne van Renen
Lee-Anne van Renen is a dynamic young woman. She is mom to two beautiful girls, Hunter and Storm, and wife to Taxi Violence’s talented Loedi van Renen. She works as a brand manager at Footys and ambassador at Body20 Olympus to name but a few. She also studied Counselling Psychology. She has a tremendous love and compassion for people, especially children. Keeping fit is very important to Lee-Anne and she still finds time to regularly participate in running/walking events, which not only bring her closer to one of her many loves – nature, but also provides the opportunity to support several charity events. Lee-Anne’s enthusiasm of our vision for the Fund makes us very excited to have her on board.
Michelle Gildenhuys Adams
Hailing originally from Kraaifontein in Cape Town, Michelle is married to Emo Adams with whom she has three beautiful sons, James, Kadar and Ziah. An achievement-driven business woman, passionate mom and wife, Michelle achieves success in whatever she puts her mind to. She is the Founder and Creator of AKIDZ clothing, Model, MC and motivational speaker and also manages the King and Queen of the Cape, which is very focused on charity and giving back.
Michelle attributes her being able to successfully juggle her demanding career, passion for giving back and responsibilities as a mom all to staying focused on the most important element of her life…her family, and still holds her late grandfather in high regard as one of the most influential people in her life who never ceased to amaze her.
When she is able to find the time, Michelle enjoys writing, reading, photography, drama and just sitting back to watch a few movies.
We are beyond thankful and proud to have Michelle generously set aside some of her time for the Daniel and Friends as well as her unwavering support.
Meet Jordyn McKenzie, Miss Teen Hope Western Cape 2015, Founder of the Heart of Dreams project and one of Daniel and Friends Fund’s ambassadors.
After spending a great deal of time in hospital battling two separate medical conditions, Jordyn developed a passion for colouring the lives of children less fortunate than herself with hope and encouragement to dream.
After a particularly lengthy hospital stay a few years ago, during which time Jordyn received treatment for both ITP (a chronic low blood platelet condition) and Type 1 Diabetes, “the sadness in the children’s eyes” inspired her to start the Heart of Dreams project. Reaching out to children in orphanages, informal settlements, farm schools and hospitals (such as Red Cross Children’s Hospital) Jordyn teaches the children wire art and beading. Each piece of wire is shaped into a heart and each individual bead is then placed on the heart representing a dream, accompanied by a prayer.
“We put our hearts between our praying hands and thank the Lord for all our blessings and what He has done for us this far, as well as all the dreams which will come true.”
Jordyn regularly delivers beaded hearts to children with special needs as they cannot do the beading themselves and then goes home happy, revelling in her rewards…”WARM SMILES”
Jordyn’s drive and passion for making a difference have proven to be a force to be reckoned with and we are beyond excited to have her on our team.
Minki Burger, a well-known singer, songwriter and actress, hails from Durbanville, where she grew up, and is one of the Directors and co-creators (together with Alta Joubert) of Lollos Productions – an extremely popular children’s’ show.
The very first “Lollos” DVD was launched in 2008, an idea inspired by Minki and Alta, both being mothers, identifying the obvious need for colorful, interactive entertainment for children in Afrikaans. The fun, funky and upbeat songs immediately drew a captivated audience who were keen for more and in keeping up with demand, “Lollos 8” has been released with work on “Lollos 9” already having begun. With each DVD focused on an individual theme and filled with an assorted variety of both educational and engaging material, it is with no surprise that “Lollos” walked away with a SAMA Award in 2011 and a Huisgenoot Tempo’s Award in 2017.
Minki’s pride and joy remains her beautiful son, Mika, but she still manages many an occasion to satisfy her passion for giving back and supporting charities whenever she can. Minki regularly offers her time and enthusiasm to Reach for a Dream, helping them with fulfilling children’s’ dreams, whether it be by setting up a surprise visit from Lollos or writing songs for little girls who dream of becoming stars.
The Daniel and Friends Fund is very proud to have Minki on board as one of our ambassadors and we look forward to an awesome journey together, filled with raising awareness for special needs and brightening up the lives of many children as we do it. Minki is closely involved with our Different is Cool School Awareness Drive and we are very grateful for all her support and her special love for Daniel and Friends Fund.

Lettie is everyone’s most loving Lalalander! She is pink and beautiful. Together with Lollos she dances as much as she can with all her friends on Earth she loves so much.
Lettie has red bows, long lashes and is crazy about colourful tutus – she has stolen many hearts – old and young. Lettie teaches us that everyone is unique – and that is what makes her so wonderful. She has a special song called “Lettie se lyfie “, that teaches everyone, especially children, that everyone is unique and special in their own way. Everyone has a reason, everyone has a place. Even if you are pink and beautiful. Lettie doesn’t look like anyone else, but she must always stay like she is.
We are very proud to have Lettie on board as our Different is Cool ambassador.
